Advocate for the Rights of People with Disabilities
In order to fulfill our mission of assisting people with disabilities and other barriers to employment to meet their employment goals, Employment Horizons looks for ways to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. We advocate for policies and legislation that advance these rights while also defending against threats to programs and funding of value to our program participants and others with disabilities.
Advocates in Action
In addition to our staff, program participants in our agency-based employment program may choose to participate in our Advocates in Action program, whereby they learn about community resources and how to advocate for their needs as employees and members of the community.
Family Advocacy Committee
Finally, because we need as much support as possible, Employment Horizons has a Family Advocacy Committee that both provides feedback to executive staff and also assists with our advocacy efforts. This committee hosts seminars a few times a year that are open to all family members of our program participants. These seminars are on pertinent topics including legal, housing, and transportation issues.
